The annual spring and fall New Haven Night Markets in the city's downtown area will now take place in the summer as well, staff members of New Haven's Town Green District announced Thursday. The organization will launch its first-ever summer New Haven Night Market on Chapel Street in July, according to the release. The Town Green District will release more information leading up the event, the staff members wrote.

Several farmers markets in Connecticut are opening this weekend as the summer season inches closer. The Nutmeg State has a vast network of outdoor markets that offer locally grown products and baked goods, in an effort to support local farmers and business owners. Some open as early as April and others start their seasons as late as July. Numerous markets also accept Farmers Market Nutrition Program checks and SNAP/EBT money as payment.

McDonald's plans on hiring more than 2,600 people in Connecticut this summer as part of its biggest hiring push in years, the company said in an email. The fast-food chain and its franchisees expect to hire up to 375,000 employees across the United States this summer, in preparation for the busy summer season and its growing restaurant footprint, the company announced in a release Monday. The last big McDonald's summer hiring push occurred in 2020, Fortune reported.
