Pune: State health minister Prakash Abitkar on Monday said a 41-year-old resident of Dhayari, who died in Solapur on Jan 25, had developed Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS). "It's a confirmed GBS case," he said. The chartered accountant's death makes him the first casualty in the Pune GBS cluster that began to form on Jan 9. The minister's statement came a day after a daily health department bulletin on GBS had listed the death as "suspected". Since Jan 9, Pune has had 111 GBS cases.
