A new centre for students with learning difficulties and disabilities (SLDD) has opened at Nottingham College’s Basford campus. The £5.4m centre, called ‘The Gateway’, enhances the college’s inclusive education offer to families with SEND (special educational needs and disabilities) children from across the region, with capacity to support hundreds of students every year.

A busy A road has been closed by police following a "concern for safety". Drivers were urged to avoid the area around the A610 in Ripley on Thursday night (May 8). Derbyshire Police confirmed a stretch of the route was shut at around 5.15pm. Motorists were asked to use alternative routes. An initial update from police said: "The A610 in Ripley is closed between the A38 roundabout and the McDonald's roundabout due to a concern for safety for a man.

Queen's Medical Centre (QMC) has announced a major change to appointments as construction begins on a state-of-the-art endoscopy unit. Backed by a £12 million investment from Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust’s and NHS England, the project involves the reconfiguration and expansion of the existing unit, creating a larger and more modern facility. Endoscopy is a vital diagnostic and therapeutic service which uses a flexible tube with a camera (endoscope) to examine the inside of the body.
