    COLLINS, Miss. (WDAM) - A logging incident knocked out power to parts of South Collins on Friday morning. According to Covington County Emergency Management Director Brennon Chancellor, a logging company working with the city was clearing an area at the fire department training site when a tree fell on a power line. Mississippi Power is on the way as of 9:30 a.m. to restore power. Terminals where truckers fill up their tankers with gas are also without power at this time.

The week is dedicated to recognizing and addressing mental health issues facing veterans. The week‘s observance will also take place during Veteran’s Day on Nov. 11.

    MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WDAM) - A Hattiesburg man was arrested in Memphis, Tenn. on Tuesday, Nov. 6, after an investigation by the U.S. Marshals Service. 25-year-old Kode McNair of Hattiesburg was arrested on Tuesday and charged with capital murder and tampering with/fabricating evidence. On Jan. 3, 2020, John Anthony “Jay” Tarvin was shot and killed at a home on Presley Drive in Hattiesburg. A little over two years later, on Oct. 19, 2022, a warrant was issued for McNair’s arrest in connection with the crime.
