    SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - One local roller-skating rink in Sioux City was supposed to close for the season in May, but by popular demand, they’ve decided to hold a few more skates. Friday night, the Rollerama held another skate night, even though they were planning on closing for the season on May 17. Dozens of people filled up the rink, having a blast skating around with their friends. The Rollerama is a family-owned roller-skating rink that’s been open since 1966.

    NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D. (KTIV) - Two years ago, a local fire department lost space for their routine training. Now, the department has opened up a new training facility to ensure firefighters are prepared and ready for any emergency. Thursday, the North Sioux City Fire Department held an open house to show the community the new training facility. In the past, the department would hold trainings on the dead-end street in front of their building.

    SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Despite the weather, Siouxlanders gathered together Thursday to showcase their pride. The Siouxland Pride Alliance hosted its Pride Parade on Thursday to kick off Pride month. The route started at 4th and Iowa Streets and traveled to 4th and Nebraska Streets. Flags, balloons, beads, and candy filled 4th Street. Even with the rain, there were plenty of parade goers. One organizer says it’s important to have an event like this in Sioux City. “It’s okay, it’s okay to be who you are.

    SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Tuesday, June 3, more than 80 military veterans from Siouxland flew to Washington, D.C. on the latest honor flight to see the monuments and memorials to their service and sacrifice. Mission 26 of the Midwest Honor Flight chapter left Sioux City before the sun came up. To wrap up their special day, those veterans returned home to a hero’s welcome.

    SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Communities across Iowa are saying goodbye to hundreds of National Guard soldiers this week as they prepare to deploy to the Middle East. The guard held send-off ceremonies in several cities, including Sioux City. Friends and family of the deploying soldiers gathered at Bishop Heelan High School to say goodbye to the 84 local guard members being deployed as part of “Operation Inherent Resolve.” That deployment could last up to a year.
