    SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Communities across Iowa are saying goodbye to hundreds of National Guard soldiers this week as they prepare to deploy to the Middle East. The guard held send-off ceremonies in several cities, including Sioux City. Friends and family of the deploying soldiers gathered at Bishop Heelan High School to say goodbye to the 84 local guard members being deployed as part of “Operation Inherent Resolve.” That deployment could last up to a year.

I never thought I would be converting. But, I couldn’t be more happy about it. I went to Catholic elementary school, but I was baptized as a Presbyterian. My whole family is Presbyterian. However, I never felt a huge connection to the religion, since we left our Presbyterian Church when I was about 4 years old.
