Eight games are on the MLB card for Thursday June 12. There are day games, as is always the case when you get these Thursday slates. I’ll still be looking at the late games, as is also always the case so that there is some lead time for readers. That narrows today’s available games down to pretty much five. For your daily weather update, it doesn’t look bad at all for today’s games, so we should be looking at our third straight day of smooth sailing.

Another day on the diamond comes our way on June 11 and it includes a handful of day games. Seven of the games start at 3:35 p.m. ET or later, so we get a lot of getaway action and some good distractions from the work day. As for me, my policy is still the same. I only look at games that have some lead time for readers. In terms of the weather forecasts for today, since I always like to look, we have another very clean slate, much like we did yesterday.

For the first time in NASCAR history, there is a points race held outside of the United States. The Viva Mexico 250 at the Autodrome Hermanos Rodriguez is our first road course race since March 2 in Austin, Texas. Including this race, three of the next five races are either road or street course events. There was a four-year stretch for the NASCAR Xfinity Series from 2005-08.

After a relatively light day on the diamond on Monday, we’re back to a full dance card on Tuesday, as all 30 teams are scheduled to take the field. It will be an all-evening affair, with zero day games to take away the monotony of the work day, with our first game not going off until 6:35 p.m. ET. On the bright side, it does look like all 15 games should go off without a hitch, as weather concerns are few and very far between for tonight’s action.

The 2025 U.S. Open will be the first at Oakmont since 2016 and the sport’s top players and biggest names have changed a lot in that span. Dustin Johnson won by three shots last time the event was held here, as Jim Furyk, Shane Lowry, and Scott Piercy all tied for second at 1-under. The USGA tries to make the U.S. Open as grueling as possible and typically succeeds, as the winning score has been 10-under or better just four times since Tiger Woods’ 12-under rampage at Pebble Beach in 2000.
