Linebacker Powell Gordon, an Auburn High product who spent one season with the Auburn University football program, has entered the transfer portal, according to a report from Christian Clemente of Auburn247. Bryan Matthews of Auburn Rivals later corroborated Clemente’s report. A true freshman last season, Gordon didn’t log a snap of action.

The 2025 recruiting cycle's national signing day came and went Wednesday, and — in the vein of what it has become in comparison to December's early signing period — Auburn football had a relatively quiet day. Hugh Freeze and his staff did secure another signature, though it wasn't a surprising one. Auburn High running back Omar Mabson followed through on his verbal commitment to the Tigers, which he made Jan. 27. Now, the Tigers' 2025 class sits at 26 signees.

Hugh Freeze has seen it some, but he's already hearing it from some of his players, too. "Our receivers are like, ‘This is different. This ball is spinning the right way,'" Freeze said, speaking to reporters Wednesday at the Senior Bowl in Mobile. Auburn football's quarterback room will look completely different in 2025, with Payton Thorne, Walker White, Hank Brown and Holden Geriner all departing, either due to eligibility expiration or transfer.
