Opelika-Auburn News
The Opelika-Auburn News is a daily newspaper based in Alabama that caters to the communities of Opelika, Auburn, and nearby areas. It started its journey in 1904 under the name Opelika Daily News. In 1968, Millard B. Grimes along with a group of investors acquired the paper, and it was renamed Opelika-Auburn News in 1969. The paper changed hands again in 1977. For a while, it was owned by the Thomson Corporation until 2000, when Media General took over. In the early 2000s, the News was part of a group of newspapers that sued Auburn University to expose financial misconduct by its trustees. In 2012, Media General sold its newspaper holdings, including the Opelika-Auburn News, to its current owner, Berkshire Hathaway.

Auburn volleyball got a needed shakeup from the transfer portal this spring — and things aren’t just different because the new players are different people. They’re a different kind of player and a different kind of transfer than Auburn has had recently: Younger, hungrier, with more to prove — all moving up from conferences with less resources to come compete with the collegiate elite in the SEC.
