    The owners of Central Pizza are moving forward on its new location in Broussard. The eatery will open soon at the former second location of Market Eatz, 1581 S. Bernard Road, after getting a building permit for the space last month. Central Pizza, which opened just over seven years ago in downtown Lafayette, is known for its wood-fired pizzas, appetizers and cocktails. The new location will have the same menu and offer a covered patio for outdoor dining as some green space.

    Nearly seven decades of grocery business on the north side of Lafayette came to end Wednesday. The owners of Breaux’s Mart supermarket sold the business and the building 2600 Moss St. to and LLC registered to Lyons Market for an undisclosed amount, land records show. The store will be rebranded as a Lyons Market and become the fifth store for the southwest Louisiana-based family-owned company. The move comes after the death of longtime owner Wallace Breaux died in November 2021.

    Lafayette is one of the fastest internet speeds in the country, a national report. The survey from ISP Reports in its annual 2025 update of U.S. cities' internet speeds indicated that Lafayette’s average internet speed of 9,036 Mbps and was second-best among cities with a population between 100,000 and 249,999 residents. The report gave Lafayette, home of LFT Fiber, an A- and noted it for its fiber reaching 92% of households and a digital connectivity index of 66/100.

This was our first stop on trips to Bourbon Street in the early 90s. The 1-800-f-me-up was the most popular, but I was a Wild Night at the Capri Motel guy. Side note: I once met the granddaughter of the guy shown below. I didn't know whether to shake her hand or bow down.
