WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF) – The National Weather Service office out of Pittsburgh has issued a special weather statement for Brooke, Hancock, Harrison, and Jefferson Counties. Funnel Cloud from a trained spotter Miller Ferry Dock on Catawba Island, OHAtmospheric conditions across portions of Eastern OH, the WV Panhandle, and Western PA show the potential formation of weak circulations within within thunderstorms and could allow for a funnel cloud to form.

WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF) – The Storm Prediction Center has highlighted the area in a slight risk (2/5) for strong to severe thunderstorms Wednesday Evening. Severe thunderstorms will be on going across the Midwest Tuesday through Wednesday morning out ahead of an advancing cold front. As the disturbance moves east it will lose steam Wednesday morning through the early afternoon hours.

WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF) – Four months have now passed in 2024 and there has not been a shortage of active weather. There have already been over 3000 reports of damaging winds, 2000 reports of hail, and over 700 tornadoes. The US is on track to surpass its number of tornadoes a year, 1224 tornadoes. Storm Prediction Centers 2024 Total Storm Reports as of May 10thOhio on average reports 24 tornadoes a year, with 63 reports so far as of May 10th.

BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio (WTRF) — The National Weather Service out of Pittsburgh has issued a Tornado Warning for portions of the Ohio Valley. NWS has issued a Tornado Warning for Southeaster Belmont County in east central Ohio and Ohio and Marshall Counties in northern West Virginia until 5:45 p.m.At 5:15 p.m. a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Glen Dale or near Moundsville moving east at 25 mph. According to the NWS radar has indicated rotation.

WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF) – The National Weather Service out of Pittsburgh has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Wetzel county in West Virginia and Monroe County in Ohio until 4:45 AM Thursday. Very heavy rain from slow moving storms continues to fall across Wetzel and Monroe Counties. 1.5-2 inches of rain has already fallen with these storms. Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas is possible.
