In a battle of two unbeaten Cape and Islands baseball teams, St. John Paul II (3-0) beat Monomoy (1-1) on Thursday behind a combined for a no-hitter from Xavier Suero (four Ks, one run) and Tyler Ross (five Ks, no runs). Logan Our led JPII with three hits (four runs, one triple), while Brian Mancinelli (two runs, one RBI) and Suero (two RBIs, one double, one run) each recorded a pair of hits.

The Monomoy baseball team remained unbeaten on the early season after a 25-0 win over Rising Tide on Wednesday. Finn Hyora (three RBIs, three runs, one triple, one double), Chace Robbins (three RBI, three runs, one double), Tyler Layton (four RBIs, three runs, one double), and Joey Ventura (three runs, one RBI) each had three hits for Monomoy. Chase Yarletts (two RBIs, three runs) and Hank Brown (four RBIs, two runs, one double) each collected two hits.

There was an abundance of offense in Tuesday's softball game between Monomoy and Sturgis. The Sharks (3-0) stayed perfect with a 30-6 win over the Storm (2-1). Offensive stars were plentiful for the Sharks, as Kate Huse had three hits and four runs scored. Kiley Mawn had three hits, three RBIs, and five runs scored. Willa Leighton had three hits, four RBIs, and four runs scored. Liv Sanford had two hits, five RBIs, and four runs scored.

The St. John Paul II softball team has to like the way it started its season Wednesday. The Lions (1-0) earned a 23-11 win over Mashpee (0-2). Ellie Kowal had three hits and scored six runs from the leadoff position. Lola Our had three hits in her first varsity game. Celia Trombly went the distance in the circle. The Sharks (1-0) earned a 14-6 victory over Martha's Vineyard (1-1) in the season opener for the former. For Monomoy, Paige Nash (one goal, four assists), Abrielle Long (five goals), Lucy Bates (three assists, team-high eight ground balls), Cass Manchuch (four assists), Kapka Thompson (one assist), Sophia Chors (one goal), and Tessa Gradzicki (three goals) handled most of the scoring. Morgan Willis had 13 saves in net.
