I’ll tell you what, there’s no downtime in the gaming release calendar these days. Just when I think I can dive into my backlog, another potential banger springs up out of nowhere to steal away my time. I’d be able to temporarily ignore these big releases by telling myself to save money, but then the subscription services go and include these games in their offerings, completely destroying that barrier to entry.

Lucasfilm Games has revealed Star Wars Zero Company, a single-player turn-based tactics game in development by Bit Reactor. We’ve heard rumblings of a Star Wars strategy game for some time now, and we finally have our first details. As detailed on the Star Wars website, Zero Company is a tactics title set during the Clone Wars that will have players control an “unconventional team of operatives” as they take on various missions throughout the galaxy.

Developer Solar Suit Games and publisher Polden Publishing have announced that the horror title Static Dread will release on August 7 for PC. With an elevator pitch that promises Lovecraft meets Paper, Please, Static Dread is a title that’s been on our radar for a while now. Playing as a newly instated lighthouse keeper, you’re tasked with speaking with the crew of incoming ships, sniffing out their intentions, and guiding them safely to shore…or not.

Developer Bungie has announced that its first-person extraction shooter Marathon will release on September 23 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. During this morning’s mammoth gameplay reveal showcase, Bungie finally gave us a solid release date and our first proper look at the studio’s take on the extraction shooter genre. In what turned out to be a throwback panel reminiscent of the E3 days, the gameplay reveal showcase ran for over an hour and included various extended looks at Marathon in action.
