LIMA, Ohio — The 2025 Lima City Golf Championship teed off on Friday with championship flight qualifiers and the opening round of match play unfolding at Hidden Creek Golf Club. Former champion Guillermo Garron, representing UNOH, impressed early in medal play, finishing 3-under to secure his spot in the quarterfinals. He was joined in match play by Alex Odenweller, who wrapped up his round on the 18th green and advanced to face Ben Giere.

LIMA, Ohio — One night after a jaw-dropping 13-run ninth inning, the Lima Locos made sure there’d be no need for late drama. The Locos overwhelmed Grand Lake 14-2 on Thursday night at Simmons Field, securing a series sweep over their Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League rivals. Purdue senior Nick Kolze took full advantage of early run support, striking out five and allowing just one hit over five scoreless innings. Lima led 3-0 entering the third inning and then unloaded offensively.

HILLIARD, Ohio — Kenton’s 7-on-7 football squad made a strong run in the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association Division II state championship on Monday, ultimately falling to Harvest Prep 22-15 in the title game held at Hilliard Darby High School. The Wildcats earned their place in the final with back-to-back wins over Indian Lake in the quarterfinals and perennial state power Kirtland in the semifinals.
