ST. PAUL, Minn. — Carson McCusker hit a tiebreaking home run in the sixth inning to lead St. Paul to a 3-2 win over the Omaha Storm Chasers Wednesday. The Saints (3-5) took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning off a home run from Jair Camargo. The Storm Chasers (5-5) answered with two runs in the top of the sixth. Harold Castro hit an RBI double, then Nick Gordon drove in Castro with a single to tie the game. McCusker’s homer then put St. Paul ahead for good.

RICHMOND, Va. — Richmond scored late in the second half Wednesday to had Union Omaha a 1-0 USL League One loss. The Kickers (3-0-2) had a 3-0 edge in shots on goal in the first half, but the Owls (1-0-2) held them scores until halftime. Union Omaha’s defense held up for much of the second half, but Darwin Espinal broke through in the 82nd minute off a rebound from Emiliano Terzaghi’s cross to give Richmond the win.

Drew Waters hit for the cycle Wednesday as the Omaha Storm Chasers cruised to a 12-6 win over Louisville. The outfielder finished 4 for 5 to become the first Chasers player to hit for the cycle since Jimmy Paredes on May 12, 2014. Waters opened with a single in the first inning, then followed with an RBI triple in the third to give Omaha (2-2) a 3-2 lead. Next came an inside-the-park home run in the bottom of the fourth that drove in three runs.

The Omaha basketball team lost another first-team All-Summit League player Wednesday when JJ White entered the transfer portal. The senior guard averaged 13.7 points and a team-high 4.0 assists while helping the Mavericks reach the Division I NCAA tournament for the first time. The move was reported by several college basketball news sites, which White reposted on social media. White’s decision comes on the same day that fellow UNO star Marquel Sutton announced he would also transfer.

The Omaha League One Volleyball squad lost its first match at the LOVB Classic in-season tournament, falling to Houston 25-20, 17-25, 25-18, 25-21. Houston rallied in the first set before Omaha bounced back in the second to tie the match. But Houston pulled away in the third set and held off Omaha late in the fourth to earn the win. Kimberly Drewniok led Omaha with 16 kills and former Husker star Jordan Larson added 10. Omaha will finish the tournament with a match at 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
