MILLIONS of holidaymakers are missing out on free travel cards that could save them thousands of pounds if they become unwell abroad. Global Health Insurance Cards (GHIC) let you access state healthcare in the European Economic Area and several other countries, on the same basis as a resident of that country. The free GHIC cards replaced European Health Insurance Cards (EHIC) after Brexit.

A MAJOR charity retailer has abruptly shut three branches with 47 more set to close as part of a major overhaul. Scope, which runs branches across England and Wales, has shuttered the three stores this month. A shop in Newport, Wales, shut on April 5, while a Southampton store and Atherstone branch closed on April 11 and April 12, respectively. A further 43 Scope stores are set to close between now and March 31, 2026, while a further four will shut in the 2026/27 financial year.

TWELVE more Homebase stores have been rescued by the owner of The Range. The DIY and homeware chain entered into administration in November but was partially rescued by billionaire Chris Dawson, owner of CDS Superstores, the parent company of The Range and Wilko. The intervention aimed to preserve up to 70 stores, safeguard 1,600 jobs and retain the Homebase brand. So far 33 new format superstores have opened across the UK and Republic of Ireland since January.
