A MAJOR retailer has revealed a plan to roll out self checkouts to more than 100 stores – and its proving divisive with shoppers. Homeware experts Dunelm will have unveiled the new till systems in more than half of its UK stores by the end of 2026. Dunelm is rolling out self checkouts to 100 of it’s stores Dunelm announced the move in a financial update to shareholders, explaining it was focused on “harnessing our operational capabilities”.

A HUGE supermarket is offering a big discount to veterans this week to celebrate VE Day. Tesco will give veterans, serving personnel and their families 10% off their shopping between May 8 and May 11 to celebrate the 80th anniversary of VE Day. The discount will celebrate Victory in Europe Day, which takes place on May 8 and marks the Allied forces victory in Europe.

A POPULAR furniture store has announced that it will close its doors for good in weeks in a blow to shoppers. The Eccentric Leopard specialises in professionally upcycled vintage furniture and has been featured in Vogue Italia and Grand Designs. It is based within Necessary Furniture, a charity in Kent that helps to upcycle and recycle unwanted homeware for those in need. But the shop will soon close its doors for good, its owner Kylie Hodge announced in an emotional Facebook post.
