The Sun is a daily tabloid newspaper that serves readers in the United Kingdom and Ireland. It was established in 1964 as a follow-up to the broadsheet Daily Herald. In 1969, after being acquired by its current owners, it transitioned to a tabloid format. The newspaper is produced by News Group Newspapers, which is a part of News UK, a company fully owned by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp.
