For the second weekend in a row, the events at Brooklyn Mirage have been cancelled. The 6,000-plus capacity venue in East Williamsburg was supposed to open on May 2, but that night, as Hell Gate reported, the space still resembled an open construction site. Promoters then said that Brooklyn Mirage would open on May 9 with DJ Loud Luxury headlining a show, followed by DJ Cloonee hosting an all day/night party on Saturday.

I could hardly watch, much less analyze.

Remember music journalism? Pardon the bong-rip thought, but I was talking to music journalist and friend-of-the-blog Arielle Gordon about how ironic it is that the media market decided it was done with music journalists at roughly the same moment that music journalists were starting to decide that we were done with being snobs—that we were really open-armed universalists rather than subculturalists.
