We have micro producers making as little as ~100 bottles of wine to large, globally-recognized wine brands producing 8 million cases a year. And given our region’s strong culture of sustainability and farming, we have a lot of organic and biodynamic wineries too. My favorite Pacific northwest wineries are the ones that are smaller and focused on giving you a sense of place.

I have dedicated many evenings to uncovering the best cocktails in Seattle. If you’ve read any of my recent travel guides, you know I love wine. But I also love me a good cocktail. There are a ton of craft cocktail places in Seattle with really excellent bar programs. I’ve been to enough that I’ve started to identify the best places to go and, most importantly, the best drinks to order. I’m always sharing with my friends what drinks to seek out, but it’s time I share it with everyone else.

Finding the best things to do in Seattle in April is easy since the city starts to become more active this time of year. The sun doesn’t set until past 7:30 PM, and the weather is in the high 50s. This means our winter hibernation is finally ending, and the spring foliage is revitalizing the city. As we approach the warmer months, you’ll find tons of indoor activities like art shows and Easter celebrations, along with outdoor events like flower festivals and Earth Day events.

If you’re thinking of visiting the Glacier National Park in winter, consider this your sign. We just went, and I was so impressed by the scenery and all there was to do despite heavy snowfall and road closures. The park is situated in Montana’s Rocky Mountains and encompasses over 1,500 square miles of awe-inspiring glacial peaks and valleys that run to the Canadian border. While visiting in the winter requires more planning, it’s worth it.
