The 116th anniversary Charity Ball, among San Diego’s oldest philanthropic celebrations, was held last month at the Hotel Del Coronado. The beneficiary was the Pediatric Intensive Care Program at Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego. The philanthropic group Saint Helen Philoptochos recently held its fundraiser “Comedy Night with Basile” at Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, Cardiff-by-the-Sea. The evening featured Greek comedian Basile. The banquet hall was transformed into a “comedy club” with oversized photos of famous comedians. The event enabled Saint Helen Philoptochos to donate $31,000 to multiple charities. Just in Time for Foster Youth of San Diego received $20,000.
