From a simple push–pull dye to a broad-band absorbing and photoconducting material by assembly with CuBr† A thermally and electrochemically stable 2D coordination polymer (CP) of formula [Cu2Br2L2]n (UDS-6) has been designed using the push–pull chromophore ligand 2-(9H-fluorenylidene)malononitrile (L) and the modest and yet non-innocent CuBr salt.

Introduction Corrole is a tetrapyrrolic macrocycle that is structurally similar to porphyrin, which has been studied for many potential applications in various fields of research such as solar energy, catalysts, sensors, organic light emitting diodes and medicine amongst others.1-16 The principal structural difference between porphyrin and corrole is the lack of a meso-carbon which results in the direct linkage of the α-carbons of the adjacent pyrrole rings.

1 Introduction Photosensitization of singlet oxygen, 1O2(1Δg), at the solid gas interface is a key photophysical process for important applications such as antiviral[1, 2] and antimicrobial fabrics,[3, 4] food safety,[5-7] eradication of chemical warfare agents,[8] sensors for dioxygen gas,[9-12] assessment of air pressure,[12, 13] and gas phase photocatalysis of NOx and volatile organics.[14, 15] The detection of photosensitized 1O2(1Δg) gas is quite important since it provides information...
