Introduction Corrole is a tetrapyrrolic macrocycle that is structurally similar to porphyrin, which has been studied for many potential applications in various fields of research such as solar energy, catalysts, sensors, organic light emitting diodes and medicine amongst others.1-16 The principal structural difference between porphyrin and corrole is the lack of a meso-carbon which results in the direct linkage of the α-carbons of the adjacent pyrrole rings.
