SCA Adjunct Professors voted to unionize

The Adjunct Faculty Alliance, or UAW, at the USC School of Cinematic Arts voted to unionize on Friday. 94% voted in favor of unionization. The results with be finalized this Friday, unless there are any objections. Jody Wheeler, assistant adjunct professor, was at the National Labor Relations Board in Santa Monica for the official counting. Jody Wheeler: This was a big deal. And it was something that everybody in the department felt strongly about.

President Biden/Press Conference: While a college degree is still a ticket to a better life, that ticket is too expensive. And too many Americans are still saddled with unsustainable debt in exchange for a college degree. That’s President Biden, speaking earlier today about his Saving on a Valuable Education plan and how it will SAVE thousands of borrowers from loans. Since coming into office, the president has canceled almost $138 billion for about 3.9 million student loan borrowers.

Students and staff head to the Village for a blood drive

In less than an hour, students and staff had the opportunity to save a life. LifeStream’s Mobile Bloodbank made its monthly appearance in the USC Village today. The local public were invited to the blood drive that was held from 10am to 5pm. The university’s relationship with LifeStream Blood Bank stemmed from their contribution as the primary blood supplier for Keck Medicine of USC.

George Tyndall, former USC gynecologist facing trial next year, found dead

Dr. George Tyndall, a longtime USC gynecologist accused of sexually abusing hundreds of patients, was found dead inside his home Wednesday, his attorney said in a statement. He was 76. For nearly 30 years, Tyndall was the only full-time gynecologist at USC. Despite complaints dating back to the ‘90s, he was not suspended from the university in 2016 after a nurse reported him to a rape crisis center.
