CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- After a contentious Republican primary where the vote count indicates he lost by a margin of just a few hundred votes, incumbent Fifth District Representative Bob Good has filed a petition for a recount. Earlier this month, the state board of elections declared Trump-endorsed state Senator John McGuire the winner over Good by a victory margin of 374 votes out of nearly 63,000 ballots cast. That is just six-tenths of a percentage point.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- After months of not receiving their mail on time, constituents continue to complain to Senator Tim Kaine and other lawmakers from Virginia. But Kaine says some progress has been made after he met and reviewed data with Postmaster General Louis DeJoy recently. Kaine says delays increased after the postal service established a distribution center in Richmond.

Scoliosis is a sideways curve of the spine. According to experts, everyone has normal curves in the spine, and when looked at from behind, the spine appears straight. But, children with scoliosis have an abnormal S-shaped or C-shaped curve of the spine. In most people, the cause of scoliosis is unknown. Dr. Keith Bachmann, a pediatric orthopedic surgeon at UVA Health Children's, discussed what treatments are available and described how parents can know if their child needs to be evaluated.

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Nine days after the primary, Republicans still do not have a nominee for the 5th Congressional District. State Senator John McGuire currently holds a narrow lead of around 370 votes over incumbent Representative Bob Good, prompting Good to say he will request a recount. According to the Virginia State Board of Elections, a recount is a very simple re-tabulation of votes.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Virginia Senator Tim Kaine is frustrated by the Supreme Court's recent decision to overturn a ban on bump stocks. On Thursday, Kaine discussed his cosponsorship of gun-control bills that would, among other things, ban the devices, which are designed to increase the rate of fire of semiautomatic weapons. According to a release, the BUMP Act would prohibit the sale of bump stocks, and the GOSAFE Act would limit large-capacity ammunition-feeding devices.

The stone terrace invites rest and reflection beneath the canopy of 150-year-old oak trees in a quiet area of McIntire Park. It was envisioned and established by private citizens in partnership with the Chamber and the City of Charlottesville.
