Plans for a three-story community center in Washington Park that will “celebrate the vibrancy of the neighborhood” moved forward this week after clearing a zoning hurdle with the Chicago Plan Commission. The $38.1 million center, a project of Sunshine Gospel Ministries and Sunshine Community Development Corporation, received unanimous approval from the commission on Thursday to rezone the vacant lot at 6000 S. King Dr. from a residential district to a business one.
