AbstractObesity is a significant health concern worldwide, increasing the risk for type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and cardiovascular disease. Studies have found various vascular anomalies, abnormal heart rhythm, and impaired electro-mechanical coupling in patients with diabetes. Research on non-diabetic obese individuals has shown that besides diabetes-related complications, obesity itself raises the risk of developing cardiovascular disease.

AbstractSARS-CoV-2 targets salivary glands potentially impacting oral health. We show that presence of replicating viruses in the acinar cells of salivary glands compromises production and secretion of histatin-5, a key host-produced antifungal peptide. The salivary levels of histatin-5 were significantly reduced in SARS-CoV-2 infected subjects, concomitant with enhanced prevalence of the fungal opportunistic pathogen Candida albicans.

Objectives This report describes an unusual case of a multilocular idiopathic bone cavity (IBC) that presented as a botryoid odontogenic cyst situated between the mandibular lateral incisor and canine in an older adult. Background The IBC represents an intraosseous concavity that appears radiographically as a unilocular or multilocular radiolucent lesion found in various skeletal sites, including the jaw.
