News of the sale of The Club At New Seabury, a private golf course and country club in Mashpee, was made official last week. Concert Golf LLC, a company that owns and operates 39 private golf courses and clubs across the nation, purchased the 36-hole golf course and beach club, which sprawls over 300 acres, for just over $60 million—its largest purchase ever since the company was established in 2011.

In November, members of the Mashpee Middle-High School (MMHS) Environmental Club will assist in leading a two-day wetland restoration/creation project on the school’s campus. The project aims to create a vernal pool, a temporary wetland habitat that is covered by shallow water during seasonal periods. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), “vernal pools are a valuable and increasingly threatened ecosystem.”The vernal pool will be located in a wooded area behind the football field.

A new survey posted to the town’s website seeks to gather feedback and input from Sandwich residents regarding the installation of Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations in the town. “The Town of Sandwich is exploring new on-street EV charging options through the MassCEC On-Street Charging Solutions Program, with support from Commonwealth Electric Technologies and Leidos,” the town wrote on its website, along with posting the survey.

On June 13, the Sandwich Fire Department hosted a "drive and drop" event at the Sandwich Fire Station to safely collect unwanted, expired or extra medicines that were lingering in the Town of Sandwich. In three hours, 711 bottles of medicine were collected. From 9 AM to noon, Sandwich firefighters were stationed outside, alongside Sandwich police officers, ready to collect and dispose of any medicines that may come their way.

Summer reading requirements for Mashpee Public Schools (MPS) were discussed at the School Committee meeting last Wednesday, June 11. A letter went out to students within the school district on June 1, announcing the summer reading program. "As it is every year, summer reading is a requirement for the Mashpee Middle High School," the letter notes in a bolded font.
