1 INTRODUCTION Although debatable (Vamosi et al., 2018; Wilson & Thomson, 1996), it is widely accepted that the coevolution of angiosperms and pollinators has resulted in a great diversity of flowering plants and pollinators (Cha et al., 2023; Ruchisansakun et al., 2021; Whittall & Hodges, 2007; Zhang, 2004). Pollination is required for the successful reproduction of flowering plants. Approximately 90% of angiosperms are pollinated by animals (Ollerton et al., 2011; Stephens et al., 2023).
