    ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Genesee Valley/Belfast baseball head coach Dennie Miles made history on Monday, becoming the winningest baseball coach in NYPHSAA history with his 807th career win. Genesee Valley/Belfast beat Eldrid 5-1 in the Bronx at Macombs Dam Park, the site of the old Yankee Stadium. Miles had previously coached at Wellsville and Avoca/Prattsburgh. He tops this week’s Section V Best alongside four local standouts.

The Panthers are 3-0 to start the season and are one of the top contenders in a stacked Class B field of Section V teams. They opened the season with a 10-3 win over Penfield, earned a 13-9 victory over Webster Thomas on Monday, and topped Spencerport 16-10 on Wednesday.

    HENRIETTA, N.Y. (WROC) — After more than a quarter-century leading the RIT men’s hockey program, Wayne Wilson announced his retirement on Wednesday afternoon. Wilson is the winningest coach in program history, recording a 471-337-82 record in 26 seasons. He is the only coach the program has ever known at the Division I level. After a 116-31-12 record at the DIII level, he recorded a 355-306-70 record in 20 seasons in Division I.
