The search for a missing 17-year-old matric pupil at KwaNobhala High school, ended in tragedy when her body was found in the Msunduzi river, at Maqongqo today. It is alleged that Amahle Nzimakwe from Ezinembeni returned from school on Sunday and asked her father if she can visit her relatives across the river in an area called Estingini. The search started this morning at around 11am and her body was recovered after 20 minutes.

The KwaZulu-Natal Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) MEC, Reverend Thulasizwe Buthelezi, has launched a forensic investigation into three local municipalities, including Msunduzi, following various allegations of mismanagement, fraud, and corruption. Speaking at a media briefing at the Public Works Department offices in Durban on Thursday, Buthelezi authorised the investigation into Msunduzi, KwaDukuza, and Nongoma municipalities.
