Little is known about the early stages of Parkinson's disease and research has shown the orexin system has a potential role in contributing to non-motor symptoms of the disease. This review discusses the most recent evidence on orexin in Parkinson's disease and animal models of the disease. This allows researchers to understand the role of orexin in the disease and to identify gaps in research to further study these areas.

Abstract:Anxiety and depressive disorders are closely associated; however, the pathophysiology of these disorders remains poorly understood. Further exploration of the mechanisms involved in anxiety and depression such as the stress response may provide new knowledge that will contribute to our understanding of these disorders.
