    FLORHAM PARK, N.J. - The Jets already have brothers Quinnen and Quincy Williams on their team. A third Williams’ brother, a hybrid version of the two, is trying to make the Jets. Giovanni Williams, a linebacker who played for Miles College, a small HBCU school in Alabama, was one of 12 players who tried out for the Jets during their two-day rookie mini-camp. Quincy, 27, was an All-Pro linebacker in 2023. Quinnen, 26, was an All-Pro defensive tackle in 2022 and made three Pro Bowls.

    The Jets signed five of their seven draft picks, including first-round selection Armand Membou, to their rookie contracts on Thursday. The players inked their deals before the Jets open their two-day rookie minicamp on Friday. Membou, the No. 7 overall pick, signed a four-year contract for roughly $31.9 million. The Jets hold the option on the right tackle for the fifth year. Third-round pick Azareye’h Thomas got a four-year deal worth about $6.6 million.

    Jets quarterback Jordan Travis, a fifth-round pick last year, is retiring from football due to the gruesome lower leg injury that he suffered in college. Travis never took a snap in the NFL. The Jets selected him No. 171 overall, but he was never able to get on the practice field. While at Florida State, Travis sustained a fractured and dislocated ankle against North Alabama in November 2023. He spent all of last season rehabbing, but he said his leg never responded.

This was the right way to approach this draft: give Fields more. “We want to surround Justin with just good skill players along with a good offensive line,” Glenn said.
