Like one in 10 Pitt students, I don’t go out on the weekend that much. I go to parties my club has, and birthday and holiday parties, but I’m not one to frequent SAE basements on the regular. Mostly, I’m just trying to ignore my neighbors’ parties, as I unfortunately live near Party Central — Semple Street. One Friday night recently, however, I, unfortunately, forgot to get dinner until pretty late, so I found myself walking to Cane’s at 1:30 in the morning when they close at 2.

Dear Alaina, I am writing you in the hopes that you can spread my message to the students of Pitt and, optimally, the world. As Oakland residents know, in the warmer months, swarms of lanternflies litter the air and streets with their disgusting existence. They’re annoying, they try to fly in my eyes and mouth every time I step outside and they’re invasive, so we’re supposed to kill them. Even God agrees that they are foul creatures that should never have graced the Earth.

As years pass by with match after match but no long-term relationships developing from dating apps, many people have become disillusioned with them as a concept. Plenty of my friends tell me they’re officially done with the apps, before rejoining a few days or weeks later because approaching strangers in public is impossible, disgusting and horrible.
