Perusing this volume of supercharged concert photography by Mike Frankel makes you wonder how he has been overshadowed all these years by other (ahem) overexposed rock ‘n roll shutterbugs. Is it partly due to the photographer’s art of putting others front and center while he/she shrinks from the spotlight? Or is it because, as Frankel recounts in this wonder-filled book, that he himself walked away from rock photography the first time a security guard demanded to see a press pass? Who knows.
