    MIDDLEBURY – Richard Spierto, a longtime resident of Middlebury, passed away Friday, Jan. 31, 2025, surrounded by his wife and family. He was the devoted husband of Ann (Vaccarelli) Spierto. Born in Waterbury on Dec. 5, 1934, Richard was the son of the late Anthony and Grace (Galasso) Spierto. A graduate of Leavenworth High School, class of 1952, Richard attended the Teachers College of Connecticut, which is today known as Central Connecticut State University.

A celebration of Regina’s life will be on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2025, at Zion Baptist Church, 137 Pearl St., Waterbury, at 11 a.m.; viewing in church from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.; burial to follow at New Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterbury. Funeral services have been entrusted to Colonial Funerals, 270 W. Main St., Waterbury, and James R. Sanders, funeral director.

    BURLINGTON – William H. Nelson, 79, of Burlington, passed away Friday, Jan. 31, 2025, after a brief illness. He was born May 20, 1945, in Hamden, son of the late John and Irene (Grabham) Nelson. Bill started his company, Nelson Insulation, in 1995, and was still working as much as he could. He was a life member of the Bristol Fish & Game and was a social member of the Pequabuck Golf Club. He had a real passion for golf. Bill loved to spend time with his family and friends.

    WATERTOWN – Giovanna (Guerrera) Polletta, 95, of Watertown, entered into the gates of Heaven on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025, at Waterbury Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved widow of Pasquale Polletta of 65 years. Giovanna was born in Pontelandolfo, Benevento, Italy on June 22, 1929, daughter of the late Raffaele and Lucia (Guerrera) Guerrera. She settled to Montreal, Canada, from Italy in 1956 to 1973, when she moved to Watertown.
