Hull Trains drivers are set to stage a series of strikes in protest over the dismissal of a colleague. Aslef union members will strike every Friday from March 7 to April 25, and every Saturday from March 8 to April 26, following a vote in favour of industrial action. The union claims the driver was unjustly sacked after voicing a safety concern, which the company refutes.

Almost half of bosses admit having staff in offices is more about appearance than purpose, new research suggests. Despite the finding, around three in five businesses plan to have their employees back in offices full time in less than two years, according to a study by jobs site Indeed. Its survey of 1,500 office workers and 500 employers indicated that people have got used to working from home. Fewer than one in five workers polled said they went into their office more days than they had to.

More than half of those looking after relatives or friends do not take up unpaid carer's leave because of financial worries, new research suggests. A survey of 12,500 unpaid carers found that the cost of taking time off without pay was the main barrier. Carers UK said its study highlighted the importance of having a statutory right to paid leave.

British Steel has opened a £10 million rail stocking facility, hailing it as the largest of its kind in the country. The new hub is at the firm's headquarters in Scunthorpe where the vast majority of rail laid in the UK is made. British Steel said the investment was part of its strategy to support the supply of rails to Network Rail.

A charity is enlisting support from sports clubs and fans in a major drive to distribute essential hygiene products to people being hit by the cost-of-living crisis. Multibank said football and rugby clubs across the country will organise donations from fans on match days next month. Among those supporting the venture are Tottenham Hotspur, Harlequins, and Wigan Warriors. Products will be distributed via Multibanks' network of charities, social workers, health professionals, and teachers.

The economy is losing billions of pounds because of widespread dissatisfaction by workers with issues such as burnout or employers' slow responses to tackling issues, according to a report. A survey of more than 2,000 adults suggested that workers estimated they lose more than seven hours a month if they are dissatisfied or unhappy in their job.

Thousands of manufacturing jobs are at risk unless a new strategy is put in place to replace gas boilers with heat pumps, according to a think tank. The Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) said the UK was well placed to produce new products and capture a share of jobs and investment. But it warned that not starting the process now would put 6,000 manufacturing jobs at risk, as the installation of boilers is phased out.

Parcel delivery firm Evri has announced a partnership with disability equality charity Scope aimed at improving doorstep deliveries for people with a condition or impairment. More options will be offered for those who might need longer, or who can't get to the door to accept a delivery. Evri, which said it estimated that one in four home deliveries go to people with a disability, has entered into a three-year partnership with Scope, including a £125,000 donation to support the charity's work.
