In 2006, Leader to Leader’s founding editor-in-chief Frances Hesselbein recognized Alan Mulally with the Leader to Leader Institute’s first Leader of the Future award. This defining recognition was because of Alan’s leadership at Boeing. Specifically, his leadership of the design and building of the Boeing 777 in the early 1990s and his leadership of Boeing Commercial Airplanes to become the number one commercial airplane company in the world in 2006.
