    A proposed ban on wood-burning stoves in new-build homes has been lifted following a backlash from rural communities. Restrictions on their installation were put in place in September following regulations known as the New Build Heat Standard which came into effect in April. They permitted wood burning stoves in new homes and buildings only for emergency heating. But they will be lifted altogether from 1 January.

Last week in Amsterdam The Things Network, who have arguably been one of the main driving forces behind the adoption of LoRaWAN, held this year's edition of their annual conference, The Things Conference. The winner of the standards war around wide area networking protocols for the Internet of Things, LoRaWAN is a low-powered, low-bandwidth, and long-range protocol.
