Much awaited by local skaters, the skate park in Seton Park is open for business. Outfitted with ramps, rails and a “bowl” – a concave 360-degree transition -- the only thing missing is an official entrance. Not that it has deterred truly committed skaters in the past. In September, a group of skaters from the Bronx-based skate brand, Hunnydipnyc, gathered at the park to practice and film some tricks.

The event was organized by the 4Bronx Project, the Kingsbridge-Riverdale-Van Cortlandt Development Corp., and La Escuelita de Sofia. La Escuelita’s director, Julissa Freire, managed the pop-up aspects and decor, while Laura Levine-Pinedo of 4Bronx and KRVC oversaw the carnival games, prizes, entertainment, and business participation.

On a recent crisp, autumn afternoon, Ewen Park was growing greener by the hour as 190 new trees took root in celebration of the third annual City of Forest initiative. Hosted by the Stewards of Ewen Park, in partnership with local organizations and volunteers, the event was one of over 80 eco-focused activities across the city aimed at enhancing and restoring urban green spaces.

The Rite Aid store located on Knolls Crescent, despite its dwindling stock, will not be closing in the foreseeable future. Last month, Rite Aid announced plans it will transition into a private company under new leadership, after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last October. During the bankruptcy process, more than 250 locations around the city were shuttered — including the Rite Aid on 238th Street and Broadway — around a quarter of the company’s total pharmacies.
