A series of behaviors in autistic children, not well addressed by medical providers today, include self-harming, hitting, biting, mouthing, licking objects, pickiness with food, clothing textures, and touching private areas – otherwise known as “sensory behaviors.” Some of these behaviors, often found to be embarrassing, can remain prevalent and persist into adulthood.

This report describes an unusual case of a young anemic female who experienced acute hepatic insufficiency and angioedema after ferrous sulfate consumption. Her primary diagnosis of congenital erythropoietic porphyria (CEP) was revealed after a detailed dermatologic examination and laboratory data. The patient was treated with IV methylprednisolone along with red blood cell transfusion, vitamin supplementation, and wound care.

Despite technological and pharmaceutical improvements in the advancement of medicine, many changes that have occurred in the delivery of medicine during my 15 years of private practice in plastic surgery have had detrimental consequences for both patients and physicians. I will briefly review these changes and provide my perspective on the future of medicine in the United States.

The nuclear reaction network within the interior of the Sun is an efficient MeV physics factory and can produce long-lived particles generic to dark sector models. In this work we consider the sensitivity of satellite instruments, primarily the RHESSI spectrometer, that observe the quiet Sun in the MeV regime where backgrounds are low.
