CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The Cleveland Division of Police and Ohio State Highway Patrol announced they will be teaming up to hold sobriety checkpoints in downtown Cleveland at the end of the month. Cleveland Division of Police Sgt. Wilfredo Diaz says the goal of the initiative is to reduce the number of alcohol-related crashes and to make the roadways safe for drivers. The checkpoint is scheduled to take place in the area of E. 9th St. and Prospect Ave. from 9 p.m. Aug. 26 through 1 a.m. Aug. 27.

CANTON, Ohio (WOIO) - Two of the three suspects charged in June’s shooting death of a 7-year-old boy inside a Stark County motel will face a judge Friday morning for their arraignment hearings. The little boy was inside a room at the Knights Inn Motel in Plain Township on June 21 when he was shot around 1 a.m.His father, William Dolch, 33, was indicted Wednesday on the charges of reckless homicide, endangering children, tampering with evidence and having weapons under disability.

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb met with Gov. Mike DeWine on Wednesday to discuss the future of the Browns stadium, a city spokesperson confirmed. The conversation between the two happened one week following the Haslams’ letter to fans, which also included renderings of a domed stadium in Brook Park.

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - A child was hospitalized following a shooting in downtown Cleveland, according to dispatchers. Cleveland EMS dispatchers say the 4-year-old was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center following the shooting, which occurred around 2:15 a.m. in the area of E. 13th St. and Chester Ave. EMS dispatchers say the child suffered ‘minor injuries’; however, the child’s current condition is unknown. The circumstances of the shooting is unknown. There are no known suspects.
