    BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — In observance of World Giraffe Day, the Gladys Porter Zoo is collaborating with a local author whose children’s book series spotlights Rocket, one of the zoo’s female giraffes. Rocket recently gave birth to a female calf who can be seen in her habitat with the rest of the herd at Gladys Porter Zoo. Local Author Suzanne Shepard wrote the children’s book series Rocket the Space Giraffe. Shepard’s third book is topping the charts, according to the zoo.

    WESLACO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A large portion on Weslaco is experiencing little to no water pressure Wednesday. Authorities with the city saw crews are working to ensure water is restored. The city is fully opening valves, which may cause residents to experience low water pressure for a bout an hour. The city says normal water pressure will return shortly.

    HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Customers in Cameron and Hidalgo Counties are experiencing power outages Wednesday afternoon. According to American Electric Power there are 176 customer outages being reported in Cameron County, 38 reported in Hidalgo County and 12 reported in Starr County. Magic Valley Electric Coop is reporting 39 customers affected in Hidalgo County.
