A new study has found that over half (52%) of British workers in middle management roles and below do not view management as an aspirational career path – with many actively avoiding leadership responsibilities. The research, commissioned by accreditation body Investors in People and carried out by YouGov, indicates that only 32 percent of respondents described management roles as inspirational or aspirational.

Nearly half (48%) of UK technology professionals are actively looking for new roles over the next 12 months, with candidates placing greater emphasis on flexibility, work-life balance, wellbeing and inclusive workplace cultures. That’s according to the 2025 Talent Trends report by Michael Page. The global data, drawn from close to 5,000 technology workers, shows a similar trend worldwide, where 50 percent of respondents are also planning a job move.

Almost half of Gen Z in the UK avoid flying because of their pets, according to a survey conducted by TrustedHousesitters!Surveying 2,000 UK pet owners, TrustedHousesitters found that 48% of Gen Z respondents had avoided air travel due to their pets, and 63% said they choose holiday accommodation based on pet-friendliness, compared to 31% of those over 65. Over half of all owners surveyed (52%) admitted to feeling like a “bad pet parent” if they are away for too long.

Only 57 percent of UK employers are ‘very confident’ that their workplace pension schemes comply with automatic enrolment (AE) regulations, suggesting that many organisations may be at risk of breaching pension obligations. That’s according to research from Towergate Employee Benefits. Automatic enrolment, introduced over a decade ago, requires employers to provide a workplace pension, enrol eligible staff automatically and contribute to their pension pots.
