    CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Detectives from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department are working to identify an individual who is believed to have robbed a Jimmy John’s in north Charlotte on two separate occasions. The first robbery happened Wednesday, July 10 at the Jimmy John’s location on 9130 Harris Corners Parkway in north Charlotte. Surveillance footage from the restaurant shows the armed intruder walk into the business, pull a gun and hold the weapon to an employee’s head.

    CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - A Charlotte family is still hoping for justice 15 years after their loved one was killed in a shooting. Detectives from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department have said 19-year-old Ja’Ron McGill was shot while walking home from his girlfriend’s house on August 3, 2009. The incident happened near the intersection of Lanecrest Drive and Colby Place. No one has ever been charged for the deadly shooting. Just months after McGill died, his son, Ja’Ron McGill II, was born.

    CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Officers from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department have taken more reports of stolen vehicles this year, according to data from the department’s mid-year crime report. According to the report, there were 4,011 vehicle thefts between January 1 and June 30 of 2024. The report states that there were 3,731 thefts between January 1 and June 30 of 2023. Officer Jonathan Frisk, who focuses on crime prevention, said the vehicle thefts happen all over the city.
