Amid a community member speaking about gun violence concerns in Charlotte, a murmur started in the chambers prompting a halt to the meeting for several minutes because someone had released crickets inside. “She dropped something from the balcony,” said one commissioner during the debacle.

Illinois State Police issued a citation for improper passing of an emergency vehicle after the bizarre accident Friday afternoon on Highway 158. “Could have been a lot worse,” said Allen Timmerwilke, a driver for Quality Towing. Timmerwilke was dispatched around 4:30 p.m. to pull a truck out of a ditch.
