    The Southwest Florida girls soccer postseason is here. Starting tonight, district play will commence and run through the middle of next week. From there, a handful of teams are slated to make the FHSAA regional tournament in what's been a good soccer season again for Southwest Florida.     We're past the halfway point of the high school boys soccer season, and we've got plenty of teams in good positions relative to the postseason. About a month and a half from now, 28 teams will descend upon the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex (Classes 4A-7A) in Auburndale and Spec Martin Stadium (1A-3A) in DeLand competing for seven state championships. Southwest Florida will aim to stretch its streak of having a team in a state title contest for the fifth time in the last six years.

    LAFAYETTE, Ind. — As much of Indiana spent the past week with shovels and ice scrapers in hand, Lafayette managed to avoid seeing almost any snowfall. However, the Lafayette Parks and Recreation doesn't allow the lack of snow spoil the sledding season at Murdock Park. When Mother Nature doesn't do the job, the city brings out a tractor and snowmaking equipment to keep the winter spirits up. According to the department's website, certain weather conditions are required to make snow.
