SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A 22-year-old who died after a hit-and-run early Sunday morning in Sacramento was identified by his family as a sports-loving truck driver originally from Tulare, California. “Whoever did this really hurt us, and I would like them to come forward to make it right,” said Thomas Green, 51, Kaleb Green’s father. Who was Kaleb Green? Kaleb was the youngest of four kids, his father said.

Luis Anguiano Calzado, 36, was found around 6 p.m. in a canal along the 3000 block of Moore Road after people walking along the bank saw what appeared to be a man underwater, according to the Ceres Police Department. Police said they helped medical personnel recover Calzado from the canal, and he was pronounced dead about 20 minutes later. He was reportedly found partially clothed and without identification.

CITRUS HEIGHTS, Calif. — A woman pedestrian died after she was run over by a vehicle last week in Citrus Heights. He was cooperative with law enforcement, and there were no signs of alcohol, other impairment or distracted driving, according to an officer. The crash is still being investigated, police said. Cory Glenn Hakala, 42, of El Dorado Hills, died after he crashed into the tree just before 4 p.m. Tuesday at Folsom Boulevard and Iron Point Road, according to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office. Hakala, the vehicle’s only occupant, was found by officers unconscious and not breathing, the Folsom Police Department said. He was pronounced dead after life-saving efforts from police and Folsom Fire Department, according to law enforcement.

The train was passing around 9:20 a.m. at Blue Ravine crossing when a car drove through the crossing gate and hit the side of the train, according to SacRT spokeswoman Jessica Gonzalez. “The crossing mechanism has major damage and will take time to repair,” Gonzalez wrote in an email. SacRT has established a shuttle bus, also known as a bus bridge, between the Historic Folsom and Sunrise stations while repairs are underway.

David Bryant Estis, 47, of Plumas Lake, died after the crash around 9:30 p.m. along Rio Linda Boulevard south of Elkhorn Boulevard, according to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office. Estis was driving the wrong way on Rio Linda Boulevard when he collided head-on with another vehicle, the California Highway Patrol said. A third car was also involved in the accident, according to law enforcement. Alcohol may have played a factor, officers said.

CERES, Calif. — A man found dead and submerged in a Ceres canal Sunday evening prompted a police investigation. Officers found the man around 6 p.m. along the 3000 block of Moore Road after concerned citizens walking along the canal bank reported seeing what appeared to be a man underwater, the Ceres Police Department said. Police reportedly helped medical personnel recover him from the canal; he was pronounced dead about 20 minutes later.
