FOLSOM, Calif. — An app is making park pavilion rentals easier in Folsom, the city said Friday in a news release. Folsom worked with Rec Technologies Inc., a company LinkedIn shows was founded by two former Uber employees based in San Francisco, to launch the app that allows users to book pavilions, gazebos and courts. All of Folsom’s park pavilions are available first come, first use.

Matthew Westberg, 55, of Galt, died after he was hit from behind by an unidentified vehicle around 4:30 a.m. along eastbound Jahant Road, east of Highway 99, according to the San Joaquin County Medical Examiner’s Office. Westberg was knocked off his bicycle into an irrigation ditch and died from his injuries, the California Highway Patrol said. The driver left the scene after the crash, authorities said. Durand Pottinger: Man found dead along Old North Sacramento road identified

Durand Clark Pottinger, 33, of Sacramento, was pronounced dead around 8:15 a.m. April 30 on the 700 block of Dixieanne Avenue, according to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office. Officers responded to the scene for reports of an unconscious man along the road and found Pottinger with at least one fatal injury, the Sacramento Police Department said last week. A homicide investigation was subsequently launched.

The group walked during its protest a two-mile stretch of trail from the Kadema Drive River Access to Larchmont Community Park. ART says many trails, beaches and access to the river’s edge will be lost, and USACE hasn’t sufficiently looked into or incorporated less destructive alternatives.
