The Modesto Bee
The Modesto Bee is a newspaper based in California that has been in operation since 1884, originally starting as the Daily Evening News. Over the years, it has been published under several different names. In 1924, it was acquired by Charles K. McClatchy and McClatchy Newspapers, and that same year, it merged with the Modesto News-Herald, adopting that name during the consolidation. By 1933, the newspaper was renamed the Modesto Bee and News-Herald, and in 1975, it shortened its name to simply the Modesto Bee. Today, it is owned by the McClatchy Company, a well-known American newspaper organization.
