2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season Published: September 24, 2024 at 12:30 PM EDT Tropical Storm Helene has formed over the northwestern Caribbean Sea, between the coasts of Mexico and Cuba, the National Hurricane Center reported Tuesday. Helene is forecast to intensify into a hurricane on Wednesday and slam into the Florida Panhandle on Thursday evening. Parts of eastern Cuba, of Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula and the western coast of Florida, including Tampa Bay, are under a hurricane watch.
