KNOXVILLE, Iowa — Nothing was going to stop David Gravel on Friday night. A poor draw in the Toyota Dash can signal the end of a driver’s chances at winning with how competitive sprint car racing has become. The difficulty grows even more at a track like Knoxville Raceway that attracts some of the strongest fields the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series sees all year.

KNOXVILLE, Iowa — Few dirt tracks are as difficult to master as Knoxville Raceway. The legendary half-mile dirt track has presented challenges to sprint car drivers for decades. It’s home to the sport’s most prestigious race, the NOS Energy Drink Knoxville Nationals presented by Casey’s, so it’s only fitting that Knoxville doesn’t often allow newcomers to conquer. The toughest race to win should be hosted by one of the sport’s toughest tracks.

PLYMOUTH, Wis. — The atmosphere was off the charts for Friday’s World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series return to Plymouth Dirt Track after 20 years away. And the night’s finale met every bit of the hype. The box score is going to show Rico Abreu led all 35 laps of the feature, but that far from tells the story. The St. Helena, Calif., native had to fight several battles throughout an eventful feature to win the war including almost being in a crash in the closing laps.

JACKSON, Minn. — Every now and then a driver winning at a specific track becomes nearly a foregone conclusion, and Carson Macedo is making a case at Jackson Motorplex. The Lemoore, Calif., native won the Fendt Showdown to earn his fifth World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series victory at the Minnesota oval. Macedo lined up on the front row for the 30-lapper and immediately put the pressure on polesitter Kerry Madsen.
